Inside the MGM Lab: Meet Our Six Student-Led Divisions

To keep our dynamic workspace buzzing and our projects moving forward, the Media, Game, and Mobile (MGM) Lab operates through six specialized divisions. This structure not only keeps the lab running smoothly but also gives our members hands-on, industry-equivalent experience before they even graduate.

Here is a quick look at the teams powering the MGM Lab and what they do:

  • Curriculum

This division focuses on developing the laboratory’s internal learning system. Its role includes revising practicum modules, creating new modules, and supporting learning materials for 4 even-semester courses and 3 odd-semester courses. Based on the criteria document, this division is especially suitable for members with academic exposure to web, UI/UX, or mobile-related subjects, and prior experience as a teaching assistant is considered a plus.

  • Media

This division is responsible for building the visual identity and creative assets of MGM Laboratory. Its scope includes designing the lab’s visual needs, creating the social media color palette, working on web design. This division also requires branding awareness, design software proficiency, creative problem-solving, asset organization across platforms, and the ability to handle feedback while keeping the design both attractive and functional.

  • Maintenance

This division is responsible for maintaining the laboratory’s assets and infrastructure so they remain safe, organized, and ready to use. Its core responsibilities include inventory management, asset documentation, managing item borrowing, designing borrowing SOPs, and maintaining the lab’s hardware and software. This division values the ability to handle sensitive devices properly, perform basic troubleshooting and networking checks, monitor server rack conditions, document assets carefully, respond to emergency situations, and work with a strong sense of responsibility.

  • Relation Division

This division focuses on external communication and partnership management. Its tasks include managing social media and email, building connections with external partners for workshops and community service programs, and maintaining a list of MGM’s existing MoUs. This division is suitable for members who are communicative, organized in administrative work, and able to represent the lab professionally to outside parties.

  • R&D (Research & Development)

This division is a place for members who want to focus on research and product development. This division main responsibilities are conducting research, building products, maintaining the MGM website, and ensuring that the products created can be sustained over time. R&D members are expected to be able to read research papers, understand research methods, have research goals, be willing to learn new things, communicate well, and turn research outcomes into products that can be used broadly and provide real benefits to society.

  • HR (Human Resources)

This division focuses on supporting the growth and well-being of MGM Lab members by creating a healthy, collaborative, and productive internal environment. Human Resource plays an important role in strengthening team dynamics, managing member development, and ensuring that every member feels engaged, supported, and able to grow within the lab. This division is ideal for people who enjoy working with others, organizing internal initiatives, and helping build a strong and connected community.
